Views to the West, Mt. Evans

IMG_0896Another beautiful day, perfect weather, fantastic views from a great vantage point high on Mt. Evans near Denver.  This high mountain park is home to a fourteen thousand foot peak, views to downtown, the Continental Divide to the west, and the highest paved road in North America.  It was 94′ in the city, and about 65′ at the summit…a great way to beat the summer heat!

Gore Range and Willow Peak

IMG_0588The rugged Gore Range makes for great B&W subject matter.  Early morning brings an angle to the light that plays well on the ridges and gives contrast and relief to the image.  This picture was taken in the fall after a few light snows…

Peak to Peak Views

IMG_0573_2The ridge leading from Mt. Huron’s (14,003′) summit stretches toward Brown’s Peak and beyond into Colorado’s Collegiate Peaks Wilderness, toward the Arkansas River Valley.  Views from the summit were 360′, with 30 other 14’ers visible from its top and countless peaks, ridges, valleys, and snowfields.  Colorado at it’s best!

Mountain Majesty

IMG_0580The Three Apostles (North Apostle, Ice Mountain, West Apostle) are viewed from Mt. Huron’s Summit high in Colorado’s Collegiate Peaks Wilderness. July in the high country is beautiful with the wildflowers and slopes greening up, snow melting under the warm summer sun, and beautiful mornings perfect for a climb up one of our Quintessential Fourteeners!

Between Seasons…

IMG_8345Torreys Peak stands majestically while autumn’s colors hang on into October in view of Colorado’s Continental Divide (Torreys and it’s neighbor Grays Peak are the only two “Fourteeners” to have their summits sit on the continental divide).  Meanwhile, early season snow makes its introduction…

Longs Peak and Trail Ridge Road

Colorado’s Best View…Ever!

IMG_0584Sunrise near the top of Ute Pass…indescribable beauty that is impossible to capture through a camera lens.  This wide angle incorporates only about 1/2 of the view before me as the sun rises on a cold winter morning.  I truly believe this to be the best grand view in a state of seemingly never-ending wonder.
